Unteruhldingen Lake Dwelling Museum

Cycling Lake Constance - Unteruhldingen Lake Dwelling Museum

A village inside Lake Constance: in the summer of 2010, a collection of over one hundred prehistoric lake dwellings in the alpine region were declared as a UNESCO world heritage site. The Unteruhldingen Lake Dwelling Museum very vividly and entertainingly informs its visitors on life in the neolithic and bronze ages. The museum’s highlight is the lake dwelling settlement, which was successively constructed by the Unteruhldingen association for pile dwellings and local history, starting in 1922. Both the museum and a multitude of its surrounding attractions, for example lighting a fire and cooking under neolithic conditions, strike a bond between the visitors and the time between 4000 BC and 850 AD - a great experience for adults and children alike!
